The Maritimer in Manitoba

Hi. I'm Michelle.

I typically have black hair, but sometimes I turn it blue. Who knows.

I was born and raised in Nova Scotia, a wee little province on the eastern shores of Canada.

Never heard of the place? Don't worry, you're not alone. There are few things Nova Scotia can take credit for, like Anne Murray, cheap lobster and Sidney Crosby. Oh, and donairs. Can't forget donairs.

Imagine it a lot messier.
For all my life I lived in this tiny nook of Eastern Canada braving soggy winters, hurricanes and even messier government, and as time went on and I blossomed into a...colourful young adult, my appetite for adventure longed to be satisfied. Opportunity in Nova Scotia is limited to those who'd rather spend their nine-to-five at a shipyard or in a beige cubical. AKA, Nadda for me.

So you can imagine when a once in a lifetime opportunity calls me up and invites me to move halfway across the country to Winnipeg, Manitoba, I wasted no time packing my little Ford Focus and hi-tailing it out of there.
From point A to point B in just under four days.
Now don't get me wrong, I love Halifornia to pieces and it will always have a special place in my heart, but change is a necessary factor in life, and this wildflower has a lot of growing room.

So far this city is just what I needed. The culture, the certain charm of the people and the character etched right into the bricks of every walkway, building and structure all speak to me and draw me in. It's beautiful here.

We'll that, and the gas is super cheap.

My new life starts here, and through this blog I'll be detailing events, info, news, life tidbits and just a bunch of random things for your enjoyment.

Because let's face it, a fresh start is amazing.
